Cadet of The Year

Our Club provides a $250 scholarship each year to a member of the West Bend Police Explorer Post to recognize his or her dedication to the activities of the Post and to assist with their future education.

Fran Wajer Memorial Scholarship

Our Club presents two annual $1,000 scholarships to area high school seniors in memory of Fran Wajer, a former founding member of the Optimist Club of West Bend member.  Criteria are sent to each public and parochial high school in the West Bend area. A committee of Club members chooses the recipients based on our application process. The presentation of the checks is at a Club meeting in May.

Crossing Guard of The Year

Since 1999, we have been awarding a $250 scholarship annually to the "Cadet of the Year" from the West Bend Police Cadet program. The award recognizes his or her dedication to community service and activities of the program and the award provides assistance with their future education as they pursue a law enforcement career.

Optimist International
​Essay Contest

This is a competition where youth share their writing talents and write an essay about a topic Optimist International chooses every year. Usually, themes are centered around optimism. The first-place winner receives $150, and the second-place winner receives $100. The winners will get to advance to a district essay competition for a chance to win additional scholarship money.
